ADVENTURE: Discovering the amazing nightlife in Havana, Cuba // CRAVE: The salsa scene at Jardines de 1830!
The nightlife in Havana, Cuba is unreal. Everywhere you turn there are amazing salsa clubs, jazz performances, and Tropicana shows. On a recent trip to Cuba, bouncing between different hot spots, it became apparent what three of the best nightlife spots were. If you’re heading to Havana, add these places to your itinerary stat!
1. Fábrica de Arte Cubano
Fábrica de Arte Cubano is a very modern nightclub that is part bar, part concert venue, and part art gallery. Trust me, the hippest of the hip hang out at this trendy nightlife spot in Havana, Cuba.
Walking in from the street, you’ll make your way through a maze of white-walled art galleries.
After you pass through these exhibits, you enter a huge warehouse size room with a glowing bar and massive stage playing different film montages or music videos.
From there you move through an outside patio, down a set of stairs, through two more bar rooms and eventually circle back through some concert and DJ rooms on lower floors.
It’s absolutely unreal how all these different venue types completely work together as one amazing nightclub. Grab a mojito and get lost in the amazing Fábrica de Arte.
2. Jazz Club La Zorra y El Cuervo
Cuba is known for its jazz music and live performances. One of the best jazz spots for nightlife in Havana, Cuba is La Zorra y El Cuervo. This place is packed every night with many patrons waiting in a line outside to get in.
The entrance is actually a British telephone booth through which you descend into the underground nightclub.
Plan to get there before 10 PM if you want a chance at making it into the nightly show!
You’ll pay a $10 cover to get in, but 2 drinks come with your ticket. The place will be packed and the performance will be worth it. With different acts every night, it’s worth a visit or two during your trip.
3. Jardines de 1830
Jardines de 1830 was definitely my favorite nightlife spot in Havana, Cuba during our trip. We stumbled on this spot by accident and immediately fell in love. Jardines de 1830 is an outdoor dance club set right on the coastal water of the Gulf of Mexico.
Walking through the gates, you encounter a huge area of open white tables, a bar hut, and a hot, spicy dance floor. The vibe is completely all-locals who know how to salsa. Bright pink, purple, and blue lights flash from spotlights set up on corners of the dance floor and you become entranced at the rhythm of the club-goers dancing.
We jumped into the crowd and made an effort, swinging our hips and spinning each other in time to the music. After a bit, we took a break and explored the area around the outdoor club. Heading past a stage where live bands sometimes played, we made our way around the edge of the water to a stone sculpture castle with curving pathways and towers. Naturally, we climbed it and looked back on the salsa scene unfolding at the water’s edge.
If you’re looking for amazing nightlife in Havana, Cuba, make sure to add these three spots to your list!
