Eating: Zuni Cafe
CRAVE: A savory brunch burger
You know when you have those more-than-aggressive Saturday nights that leave you in dire need of a more-than-solid Sunday brunch?
Yeah. This was one of those brunches.
In an effort to restore balance to my body a burger was definitely in need. Zuni Cafe’s burger had been on my want-to-try list for quite sometime. A little harder to track down as it is not offered on the dinner menu, you’ll have to find this gem on a weekday lunch menu or weekend brunch menu.
Beyond food, Zuni Cafe has the best ambiance. A cozy loft space with bright light filtering through the paneled windows that create a two-story wall of gorgeous glass walls around you. The space really opens up and the natural daylight highlights the elegant white table cloths and decor.
Let’s look at the food.
Delicious slices of ACME bread with butter to start. Carbs. Yes.
An upscale twist on sausage and eggs: House-made sausage with black beans and sauteed fava bean leaves, with a poached egg.
If you want to eat something fried eat this: Shoestring potatoes. Salt addicts this is your god send.
And of course, my burger. As with the Rules of Sharing, my brunch date and I split everything so this is merely half of the glory. Officially description: “house-ground, grass-fed beef hamburger on grilled rosemary focaccia with aïoli and Zuni pickles and Beecher’s Flagship cheddar cheese.” Focaccia. Aïoli. Cheese. ‘Nuff said.
