ADVENTURE: Hiking Eagle Lake Trail in South Lake Tahoe // EATING: Delicious bites at // CRAVE: Those views from the top of the hike!
Lake Tahoe is one of those perfect places: skiing, snowboarding, and cozy fires in the mountains during the nippy winter, then swimming, boating, and hiking around the lake during brilliantly warm summers.
If you’re headed to Tahoe during the spring, summer or even fall, you’ll definitely want to add the Eagle Lake Trail hike to the top of your vacation activities list.
Eagle Trail is a relatively short hike at about 2 miles roundtrip, but pretty much all uphill. The trail wanders up, across, and alongside cascading waterfalls, entertaining you with gorgeous scenery your whole trek and making the extra cardio worth it.
When you finally reach the summit you will find the most perfect swimming lake you’ve ever seen. The waters are calm and refreshingly chilly with runoff from melted mountain snow. Lake Tahoe is itself is gorgeous, but who knew this other little gem of a lake was hidden all the way up here!
Take in amazing views, cool off, and enjoy the sunshine — you deserve it!
Whether you decide to fuel up with a good meal before or after your hike, you’ll definitely be impressed with the fare at Artemis Mediterranean Grill. This spot is along the south shore and makes an easy pit stop if you are coming from the southwest side.
The restaurant offers a good mix of healthy options such as kebabs and shrimp salads. Bonus — there’s an amazing hidden garden patio you can enjoy your meal at!
Side of fries, please — always.
