ADVENTURE: Zushi Puzzle omakase by Chef Rodger, enjoyed at the sushi counter // EATING: ALL of the fish! // CRAVE: Any omakase dish with salmon.
The Zushi Puzzle omakase tasting menu is a very fun, interactive dining experience in San Francisco. Zushi Puzzle is a great sushi restaurant in the Marina district of San Francisco, offering delicious sushi rolls, nigiri, and sashimi. However, if you really want to do it right, come to Zushi Puzzle for their special omakase prepared by Chef Rodger at the sushi bar.
A little bit about omakase for those who’ve never had it: it is a style of Japanese dining where the chef prepares each piece of sashimi or nigiri as it’s own individual course, perfectly seasoned with a dash of lemon, wasabi, or some other ingredient. It’s all about the quality of the fish, the skilled handling and slicing of the fish by the chef, and balancing the flavors just right.
Omakase can range from 9 pieces to 20 pieces or even more depending on the restaurant. The prices also range depending on the caliber of the restaurant and the number of courses, anywhere from $70-$300.
What makes the Zushi Puzzle omakase experience truly unique is the fun their chef, Rodger, provides. He provides the perfect mix of conversation, knowledge about the ingredients, and funny side comments throughout your meal.
And if you don’t ask him to stop — he will keep feeding you course after course of amazing fish! We had close to 20 courses of delicious omakase over the course of our evening.
The Zushi Puzzle omakase meal is an original menu and exciting experience to check out. Make sure to make a reservation ahead of time, Rodger’s meals are very popular!
