Eating & Adventuring: Eiji Sushi + Brewcade
CRAVE: followed by slushy alcoholic drinks and a battle of Ms. PacMan at Brewcade
There are a few different camps when it comes to sushi. Those who like it simple, traditional and fresh — fish at its purest and finest. We’re talking nigiri, sashimi, omakase type folks. Then there are the others, who like it “Americanized” covered in different sauces, mayo, sometimes fried, or even lit on fire. Finally, a 3rd camp that can appreciate the tastes of each without discriminating or judging the other.
I’m in the last camp and enjoy my sushi both ways.
Eiji Sushi is awesome in the fact it doesn’t fall to far to one extreme. You wont find a ton of outrageous rolls covered in orange goo, or are you limited to just the basics.
What you will get is awesome fresh fish.
They offer a “special miso soup” that is buttery, creamy and — on the night we visited — included pieces of salmon, though this can change.
Assorted deluxe sashimi with 13 pieces of fish, including a variety of tunas. So good.
And, a few specialty rolls that are popular and unique to the restaurant.
The Ceviche roll is hamachi with a leaf of lettuce and tomato (aka “homemade salsa”) that has a bright, light flavor.
The Poke Roll was my personal favorite, filled with white tuna and spicy sauce.
After you are full from your fishy dinner, you are only a few blocks away from Brewcade.
From its name you can likely surmise that this place serves drinks and fun arcade games. Everything from the new, to the old (PacMan!), to the favorites (Buckhunter). Drinks are fairly prices and there are tons of machines to choose from.
Grab a bevie, a good friend, and let the game-off begin.
