Wow. Colossal Clusterfest completely blew any and all of my expectations out of the water — so all I can say is, “Wow!”
Colossal Clusterfest is a brand new hybrid comedy + music festival put together by Comedy Central and Superfly, the company that brings you awesome festivals like Outside Lands and Bonnaroo. With those two powerhouses teams behind this production, you know you are in good hands.
I’ve enjoyed my fair number of festivals (Outside Lands, Coachella, Tomorrowland, Bumbershoot, CRSSD, Made In America, Treasure Island — seriously the list goes on and on!), but I’ve never been to something that had such a primary focus on comedy!
To me everything about this festival was perfect — from the food, to the entertainment, to the setup. Read on for exactly why Colossal Clusterfest totally kills it.
1. Minimal Walking To Every Colossal Clusterfest Stage!
The entire festival takes place in the square block surrounding the open area of Civic Center Plaza. You have two stages outside as well as a few inside of Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.
You can easily make it to different shows you want to see and split your time between multiple performances without wasting 15-30 minutes hoofing it from one stage across the festival to another.
2. Amazing Comedians AND Musicians
This one is obvious, but the talent is top notch at this festival. Every comedian was confident and delivered with their acts.
Even if the comedy wasn’t your favorite type, you would still respect the jokes they were telling and be impressed with the overall delivery. Take time and mix it up between dancing your heart out and laughing your ass off.
3. DELICIOUS Food!
Colossal Clusterfest brought in some of the best food in the Bay Area! There were tons of options to choose from, not to mention amazing themed food options sprinkled throughout the festival.
Enjoy beers,“Beef and Beer,” and “Rum Ham” at Paddy’s Pub from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
Or stop by different dining experiences from South Park’s most recognized restaurants such as Tweek Bros. Coffee, Raisins, Les Bos, Casa Bonita and Whistlin’ Willy’s.
4. You Can See Every Artist On Your List
Colossal Clusterfest was perfectly set up so you could see everyone you wanted to see on your list. For shows with several comedians, it was easy enough to come and find seats for the portion of the show you wanted to.
The outdoor stages had good movement and you never found yourself unable to get into a venue or stage area to watch the act. Which leads me to my next point…
5. There’s No Bad Seat In The Whole Festival
With many other festivals, if you’re too far back from the mainstage, in the nosebleeds, or pushed outside of the tent, you really can’t enjoy the performance. With Colossal Clusterfest, it’s easy to enjoy the comedy no matter what seat you have or standing space you snag. All of Bill Graham’s seats have views of the stage, and anything at the outdoor mainstage can be heard equally as well. Huge screens on the side of each stage also project the comedians performing to also help you visualize their delivery.
6. There Is A Wine Tent
Not sure if this needs explanation. Any festival with a tent dedicated to wine is a win in my book.
If you are a fan of music, comedy, or having fun, Colossal Clusterfest is something you need to put on your bucketlist. Can’t wait for next year — hoping they keep this amazing new festival in San Francisco!
