Eating: Sessions At The Presidio
CRAVE: Panella cheese dumplings
I’ve had Sessions on my hit list forever. Filed under “places with quality food and a great beer selection that my boyfriend would want to try,” we finally made it to this spot after a long 7-mile hike.
The space is roomy, with a few rooms of seating and an outdoor patio. Mental note: come back here when San Francisco is not experiencing its winter El Nino chill.
Since we had gone on our enormous hike it seemed appropriate to treat ourselves to a couple of their many, many beverages. Check out Session’s drink menus here.
We started with the panella cheese dumplings — something I’d never had before, but with “dumplings” and “cheese” in the name it clearly couldn’t be a bad choice. If gnocchi and fluffy cheese got together and had a baby, these little pillows would be it. With a cilantro-chili pesto sauce, pepitas, and acorn squash, this was fabulous little bite of winter comfort.
Their dishes include items such as fish tacos, mussels, oysters, sandwiches, and pastas.
Their open-face pastrami sandwich was another winner. Spicy kraut, pickles, and chimay cheese topped with pickles and a side of aioli. Very happy this was open face, leaving more room in my stomach for the pile of delicious meats on this sandwich.
The burger. Another great one. Get it Chef’s Style with Wagon Wheel cheese and bacon jam and you’ll be very happy indeed.
Tucked just inside the Presidio, Sessions makes you feel like you’ve left the city for just a moment as you enjoy this perfect spot with high quality dishes and brews.
