ADVENTURE: Hunting down the best burgers at a weekly pop-up // EATING: Mission D&A // CRAVE: Their bomb burger!
I’m a fiend for burgers. Whenever I hear hype for a new juicy burger that’s hit the scene, it jumps to the top of my “to-eat” list.
I recently heard about Mission D&A, a new San Francsico pop-up restaurant slinging patties in the Mission. After a little social media stalking, I decided I had to try one of these burgers out and report back.in San
Mission D&A is a pop-up restaurant, so they use the space of another restaurant in its off-hours to serve their own menu. This pop-up takes place in the Roosevelt Tamales Parlor.
The focus for Mission D&A is actually putting together prix fixe, multi-course dinners every few weeks, but in between each dinner series they offer a weekly burger night on Wednesdays.

The pop-up is the project of two chefs, Angela Pinkerton and David Nayfeld, who met working together at a previous restaurant. Mission D&A came about as a concept they could put together while working to launch another restaurant, Che Fico, due to open in the winter of 2016.
When we arrived an hour or so after they had opened, the place was already pretty full of other patrons enjoying their burgers. We ordered two burgers and fries and jealously waited as we snuck side glances at other people devouring their food.
Everything came out pipping hot. The fries are a wedge style, heavily seasoned with a side of a black, garlic aioli. Loved the aioli, though the fries could have been crisper for me (all about that extra crispy deep-fry action!)
The burgers were MASSIVE. I could barely get my mouth around the whole bun and patty, but what did make it in my mouth was delicious!
The burger comes with your usual cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion, plus their “dijonaise.” I’m a sucker for mayo or any type of aioli so this hit the spot!
With such awesome burgers, I can’t wait to see what their new restaurant will have in store!
Catch Mission D&A’s burger pop-up from 5:30pm – 9:00pm every Wednesday in the Mission at the restaurant. Make reservations for their other family-style pop-up dinners, or check in on other events on their website here.
